What we do

One local team for the systems your business runs on.

Founded in November 1993 by GTE veteran Ron Bielanin — ETG stands for “Ex Telephone Guys” — the company has been a Certified ESI Reseller since 2012, still services older phone systems other vendors have given up on, and regularly works as the local hands for out-of-area companies that need installation or service done in the Erie region.

Why ETG

We still service the systems others call obsolete.

ETG started in 1993 selling and servicing Nortel, ComDial and other hybrid key telephone systems, and we still repair and maintain Avaya, Nortel, NEC and ComDial systems today. We value our loyal customers and look forward to serving them for many more years.

  • Don’t fall for scare tactics

Most of the time an older system needs a simple adjustment, a configuration change or a routine repair, not a replacement. These are dependable systems.

  • Upgrade what you have

We can add features and improve the reliability of your existing system so you can keep moving forward without replacing everything.

  • Whoever installed it

ETG repairs and maintains existing telephone systems regardless of who installed them. If another company can’t or won’t service your system, call ETG for a second opinion.

ETG regularly works under contract for companies based outside the Erie region — national integrators, equipment vendors, manufacturers and IT firms that have a customer, a branch or a job site here and need qualified local technicians on the ground. We do it often and we enjoy it.

Tell us what the job needs and when, and we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right crew for it.

Our story

Still local. Still owner-run.

The name says it: ETG stands for “Ex Telephone Guys.” When GTE wound down its Erie operation, the people who had kept the region’s biggest employers connected didn’t leave town. In November 1993 Ron Bielanin, a 30-year GTE veteran, started ETG Communications to keep doing that work for Erie businesses directly, selling and servicing Nortel, ComDial and other hybrid key telephone systems. His son Scott joined in 1996 and took ETG beyond telephones into cameras, wireless, fiber and paging, and in 2012 ETG became a Certified ESI Reseller. More than three decades later ETG is still local, still owner-run, and still building its business the same way: one customer at a time, mostly by referral.

These folks know what they are doing

Excellent service. These folks know what they are doing. One tech came and saved my business lines from being lost when two teams of Spectrum techs had no idea what they were doing. Highly recommended.
